9 New Hotels in Mexico and Latin America

The Latin America hotel construction pipeline is full of new options for meeting and incentive groups. 

Business is booming in the region of the world: At the close of Q1 2025, the total hotel construction pipeline in Latin America saw an 18% increase in projects and an 11% increase in rooms year-over-year. Of those, Mexico had the largest number — 254 projects and 39,163 rooms.

The following new hotels focused on group business span all the different experiences the region has to offer, from a mountain resort located in an extinct volcanic crater in Panama to Marriott’s first all-inclusive property in Cancun.

1. AVA Resort Cancun

Cancún, Mexico

The all-inclusive AVA Resort Cancun, opened in October 2024, offers 1,600 guest rooms with private terraces and ocean views. It has 90,000 square feet of event space, including two large ballrooms, the largest of which measures over 53,000 square feet. The resort also offers 17 dining options, a large spa, wellness center, six pools, a waterpark, bowling, golf and AVA Bay, a 2.8- acre man-made saltwater lagoon for water activities.

2. Hotel La Compañia del Valle

Valle de Anton, Panama

Hotel La Compañia del Valle is a Tuscan-inspired mountain resort located in an extinct volcanic crater featuring 70 rooms. The luxurious property, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, offers 4,704 square feet of indoor meeting space across three rooms. The property also offers a unique outdoor plaza for up to 80 guests. Other highlights include a large spa, a saltwater pool, Roman baths, aromatherapy steam rooms, and a sundeck with views of the La India Dormida mountain.

3. Hyatt Regency Panama City

Panama City, Panama

Opened in February 2025, Hyatt Regency Panama City is located in the city’s financial district and offers 25,000 square feet of event space across two towers. Facilities include a Regency Ballroom for up to 450 guests, theater-style, 12 meeting rooms, an outdoor terrace, and a broadcast lounge for hybrid events. The hotel has 382 rooms and suites, four dining venues, and a 24-hour fitness center.

4. JW Marriott All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres / W All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres

Costa Mujeres, Mexico 

Marriott will open two all-inclusive resorts in Costa Mujeres, Mexico in 2026. The JW Marriott All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres will have 283 rooms, six dining options, several pools and ample meeting rooms. The W All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres will have 300 rooms, five restaurants, multiple bars and lounges, and 9,000 square feet of event space. Both properties will connect to The Village, a 70,000-square-foot entertainment venue.

5. Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort (Renovation)

Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort, reopened in July 2024 as Marriott’s first all-inclusive property, with 450 redesigned guest rooms and nearly 25,000 square feet of renovated indoor and outdoor event space. The resort features a large ballroom holding up to 720 people, theater-style. There are also a total of 12 indoor event spaces, five outdoor event spaces, 13 dining options, a waterpark, and a fitness center.

6. Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve Peninsula

Papagayo, Costa Rica

Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, opened in February 2025 on Costa Rica’s Peninsula Papagayo. The 107-room resort, including three luxury treetop tents, offers views of Bahia Huevos and the Pacific Ocean. Amenities include diverse dining experiences, multiple pools, and a spa. The surrounding 250-acre Palmares Preserve sanctuary features three ecosystems and offers guided wildlife hikes, ziplining, and canoe trips.

7. SLS Playa Mujeres Cancun

Cancun, Mexico

Opened in late 2024, SLS Playa Mujeres Cancun is the Ennismore brand’s first all-inclusive resort. The resort features 498 guest rooms and nine flexible event spaces, including one ballroom with capacity for almost 1,000 guests, theatre-style. Amenities include four pools, a spa, 15 dining options, two gyms, beach access, and multiple entertainment options for both adults and kids. Two miles from the resort is Playa Mujeres Ennismore Golf Club, an 18-hole par-72 course.

8. W São Paulo

São Paulo, Brazil 

W São Paulo opened in January 2025 and offers 179 guest rooms that start on the 25th floor of the building, affording panoramic city views. It features more than 5,000 square feet of meeting space and amenities including top-floor dining, a variety of on-site restaurants, an outdoor pool, and wellness programs. Attendees can explore the city via an ornate walkway connecting Rua Funchal to Rua Helena.

9. Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique

Punta Cacique, Costa RIca

Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique is a brand-new oceanfront resort located 17 miles from Liberia Airport. It offers over 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space with ocean views, including grand and junior ballrooms, a ceremonial pavilion, terrace, and beachfront areas. The property includes a spa, fitness center, multi-level pool, and seven dining options.
