TVING, a Korean streaming platform, has officially announced that its original live-action series based on the webtoon Yumi’s Cells will return for a third season, with Go-eun Kim reprising her role as Yumi. The upcoming season will continue the “cell-stimulating” romance story, following Yumi’s journey as a now-successful writer and the lovable, outspoken cells that live inside her mind.
In Season 3, Yumi, having achieved her dream of becoming a star author, faces an unexpected and unpredictable new romance. Her sudden feelings of excitement stir up the once-calm village of cells, bringing a fresh wave of emotional growth and delightful chaos.
Expressing her excitement, Kim shared, “I’m honored and happy to continue Yumi’s story, which many viewers have so loved. It’s a very special experience as an actor to portray the same character over such a long time. As much as Yumi has grown over the seasons, I hope to capture the pivotal moments she faces in life through Season 3. Since this journey started in 2021, I really want to bring it to a meaningful and heartfelt conclusion.”
Yumi’s Cells Season 3 is set to premiere in the first half of 2026, exclusively on TVING.
Yumi’s Cells follows the everyday life and emotional growth of an ordinary woman named Yumi, uniquely told through the perspectives of the tiny cells inside her brain.
Originally adapted into a live-action series in 2021 starring Go-eun Kim and Bo-hyun Ahn, the show has a blend of live-action and 3D animation — a first in K-drama history. The second season aired in 2022. Both seasons are available to watch on Rakuten Viki.
Created by Donggeon Lee, the original Yumi’s Cells webtoon was serialized on Naver Webtoon from 2015 and has since been completed. The English version is available on WEBTOON.
