Praise Helix! The official website for the Pokémon franchise announced last week that it is bringing the Pokémon Fossil Museum to Chicago’s Field Museum on May 22, 2026. This is the North American debut of the Pokémon Fossil Museum, which is an exhibition that compares fossil Pokémon like Omastar and Aerodactyl to real-world fossils’ lifeforms.

The exhibit will feature Pokémon models alongside actual fossils, pairing the iconic Sue the T. rex with Tyrantrum and the Chicago Archaeopteryx with Archeops, just to name a few.

Interested Pokémon trainers, paleontologists, excavators, and fans can sign up for updates.
The Field Museum in Chicago, the National Museum of Nature and Science in Tokyo, and The Pokémon Company International are collaborating to create the exhibit.
The original Pokémon Fossil Museum first opened at the Mikasa City Museum in Hokkaido in July 2021 until that September. The exhibit was recently at Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum from March 8-25.
